Best ever so happy with the service super friendly staff helpful and full of information to give my pet the best life it can have and so willing to help even in this world of 2020 good to see people still caer for animal's

Was super disappointed with Vetlife, our poor old cat 20years old was in so much pain, called our usual vet who was based in Wanaka on call who recommended we call Vetlife to see if we could get some pain relief just to get her through the night as the trip to Wanaka could be super hard on her and Vetlife is just around the corner. The lady who answered the phone was amazing and helpful probably a receptionist or vet nurse, she couldn’t get hold of the vet so was going to see if she could find a manager. Someone took my call and after explaining the situation she said because I wasn’t one of their clients they wouldn’t see me, that’s just not how it works and was very stern and rude. She slandered the other vet clinic basically saying they should know better. So I ended up taking our 20year old cat on the 40min journey to Wanaka on the icy roads and that vet was absolutely fabulous, and we got everything sorted then and there and now our old girl is back to her usual self! As a healthcare worker in a small community we wouldn’t do this to someone who wasn’t our usual patient if we were available and they were close by we would absolutely provide care for them esp if they were in pain! Super disappointed and definitely something that needs to change esp in this small community we live in.

Very negative experience. Called for a same day appointment as wasn't having much luck with my regular vet and my dog wasn't eating. Vet was clearly rushed, spent maybe 5-10 minutes with my dog and me and decided within about two minutes that my dog just had some back pain. She also seemed annoyed or dismissive when I asked questions, and borderline scolded me for not going to my regular vet where they had my dogs labwork results. She rushed me out the door with a pain medicine shot and did nothing to address the major concern which was my dog not eating or drinking or provide any pain relief for when the injection wore off. It was a waste of $120 and an hour drive and I ended up having to take my dog to another vet the same day who hospitalized her because she was very ill with a high fever which the Vetlife vet didn't even check. Edited to update: my dog died and I will forever wonder if getting better care sooner would’ve made the difference. Don’t take your animals here.

I took my dog to Vetlife for her annual vaccination shots. I'm not informed on the inflationary cost drivers facing vetrinary clinics but will share here the increase I've suffered over less than two years (for the same shots); October 2022, $92.00: September 2023, $125.00: September 2024, $130.00. By my calculation that represents a 41.3% increase over less than two years. Before anybody advises me that vaccine costs have jumped up, the actual amount of vaccines administered to my dog is only a few cc's. If I were the owner of Vetlife I would have a closer look at the staffing level at this Clinic. I have never visited there and not witnessed multiple staff members just mooching around in the reception area. Consumers CANNOT continue to absorb these kind of cost increases. Simple end result (for some without the ability to pay) will be the decision not to get their dog vacinnated or sell/give their animal away. Another little chip away at the quality of life.
