About

Kaharoa Kennels sits on a rural property at Hamurana, a short drive north of Lake Rotorua, where large single kennels each pair an indoor room with an outdoor run. The family owners run social daytime play groups and ask new dogs to settle in with a daystay before their first overnight. Boarding is priced by size from toy through extra-large, and the team also takes cats, offers grooming, and runs a weekday pet shuttle around Rotorua.

Our dog Jess had her first stay yesterday and she loved it. Awesome staff and we will definitely be back. Cheers.

A few weeks ago, my dog had his first day stay to see how he would cope, as he’s always been a bit of a homebody—especially attached to my mum. I was like a nervous parent on the first day of school, but the staff were so reassuring and kind, which really helped ease my worries. He had his companion, Miss Ruby, with him for support, and when I picked him up at the end of the day, they told me he had done really well. That gave me so much peace of mind, especially knowing he would be well cared for when we went away for a few days and he stayed overnight with the other dogs. This is truly a fantastic kennel. I’ll definitely be bringing him in for day stays now and then, and they’ll be my go-to for any future holidays. I also love that they post photos on Facebook so you can see the fun adventures your pup gets up to—such a lovely touch!

My pup visits twice a week and has also stayed overnight. These people love dogs! Can't recommend them highly enough. Their phone still doesn't work though, so you must contact them through Facebook. They are very responsive!

Cannot rate Kaharoa Kennels highly enough!. My fur babies stayed this long weekend. The service and staff were outstanding.. knowledgeable, caring and experienced and they looked after my two babies as their own. As owners they have done so much there since they took over property several years ago.. all with safety and welfare of dogs in mind. Highly recommend for anyone considering day care or longer stay.
